Day 20: What Are Essential Oils and Why Do Plants Produce Them?

  • Jun 24
  • 1 min read

Many people think essential oils are simply “fragrant oils.”

In reality, essential oils are not the same as vegetable oils.

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds produced by plants and stored in flowers, leaves, peels, bark, resins, and roots.

Plants cannot run away or speak. To survive, they create these aromatic compounds to protect themselves and adapt to their environment.

Plants produce essential oils to:

✅ Repel insects

✅ Attract pollinators

✅ Help cope with environmental stress

So when you smell an essential oil, you’re not just enjoying a scent, but you’re experiencing the plant’s natural survival intelligence.

🌿 Essential oils are more than fragrance; they are the concentrated essence of a plant.
