Day 5: The King of Essential Oils, the "Ultimate Restoration" for Body, Mind, and Spirit — Frankincense

After spending the first four days with our foundational everyday essential oils (Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon, and Tea Tree), today, we are going to meet a true heavyweight "VIP."

There is a famous saying in the aromatherapy world: "When in doubt, use Frankincense." It is the "King of Essential Oils" and an incredibly precious, sacred aroma that has been revered since ancient times.


If the previous essential oils were taking care of our daily physical needs, then Frankincense is here to deeply embrace and soothe our souls.


🧚‍♀️Its Origin

The name Frankincense comes from the Old French term franc encens, which means "high-quality incense" or "pure incense." As early as ancient Egyptian and biblical times, the value of Frankincense was considered equal to gold; it was a precious gift offered to the divine. Frankincense essential oil is extracted from the resin of the Boswellia tree. When the tree's bark is damaged, the resin flows out slowly like tears to scab over and heal the tree's wounds. Therefore, every single drop of Frankincense contains nature's immensely powerful energy of "self-healing."

The deepest power of Frankincense lies in "calmness" and "restoration." Its aroma is rich, carrying a deep woody scent with a touch of spice and a faint fruity tartness. Frankincense not only smooths over emotional scars but is also widely recognized as a "holy grail of anti-aging" in the skincare world. You can add 1 drop of pure Frankincense essential oil to your daily face cream or a plant-based carrier oil, mix it evenly in your palm, and apply it to your face and neck. It greatly helps to fade fine lines and restore the skin's elasticity and radiant glow, making it a best friend for mature skin. Furthermore, diffusing Frankincense during prayer, meditation, yoga, or when your chest feels tight can help open up your airways and deepen your breathing.


🌈Today's Little Practice

Tonight before bed, or during a quiet moment when you want to be alone and center yourself: Place 1 drop of Frankincense essential oil in your palm and gently rub your hands together. Cup your hands slightly over your nose. Close your eyes, inhale deeply and slowly, and then exhale fully. Imagine yourself as a deeply rooted tree; no matter how noisy the outside world gets, your inner core remains steady and secure.

After taking three deep breaths, silently tell yourself:

"I accept myself as I am in this moment; my heart is filled with peace and strength."
